James (Jim) Farmer is the founding Managing Partner at FSG, bringing over 45 years of expertise in estate planning, tax minimization strategies, and financial advisory services for high-net-worth individuals.
Jim holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Illinois State University. He began his distinguished career at Prudential, where he excelled in various leadership roles. In 1996, he transitioned to Wachovia Securities, now Wells Fargo Advisors, where he played a pivotal role in developing and implementing a comprehensive Business and Estate Planning program on a
national scale. In 2007, Jim helped establish FSG, where he continues to lead with innovation and dedication to the financial services industry.
A highly decorated professional, Jim has received multiple Presidential Citations and served as President of the Association of Life Underwriters in Chicago and Vice President of the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) Board. His thought leadership has been featured in prestigious publications such as the CLU Journal, Forbes, and The Wealth Advisor.
Jim’s professional credentials include Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Accredited Estate Planner (AEP), and Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA).
Additionally, he holds life, accident, and health insurance licenses, as well as Series 7 and 63 securities registrations. A distinguished member of the Forum400, Jim is committed to advancing innovation and excellence within the financial services sector. He has been a

Beyond his professional achievements, Jim is a dedicated family man who cherishes time spent with his loved ones, including his five grandchildren. He frequently enjoys retreating to the Farmer family lake in Canada, where he indulges in fishing and photography.
