Derek Alexander

As a point-of-sale with Financial Strategies Group, Derek provides support for individual, estate, and business planning. With 33 years in the insurance industry and 28 years in financial markets, Derek has extensive experience partnering with financial advisors, insurance agents, bankers, estate planning attorneys, and CPAs and helping with advanced planning strategies for their clients.

In 1991, Derek started his career as an agent for a life brokerage company. He leveraged that experience to become a financial counselor with Travelers/CitiStreet, where he provided executives and employees with plan administration and enrollment services for pension plans and defined contribution plans. He was also an on-site financial professional providing investment advice to executives and employees. Derek then excelled as a Dedicated Life Consultant for Hartford Life, covering Kansas and Missouri in the National Accounts and Independent Advisor channels. Derek was later with Capitas Financial and Insurance Designers of America, where he provided insurance and long-term care solutions for financial advisors and their clients.

Derek currently resides in Overland Park, Kansas with his wife Karen. They have two children, Kira and Ella. Derek is an active member of his community, especially in his neighborhood association. He enjoys spending time with his family, backyard grilling, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Current, and Sporting Kansas City.
